I know this because after I set in NVIDIA control panel to force Nox to use onboard GPU, the setting were reset upon updating the driver. Other issues were also not solved, such as micro-freezing on very first action or computer freezing upon quitting. For me, that had to be on purpose even though I'm not IT guy so I wouldn't know. SAFE ANDROID EMULATOR MAC REDDIT FULLThe crashing returned with a vengeance and the weeks leading to previous maintenance was full of sudden crashing, immediately followed by a video ad of other games. I also blocked the phoning home from one of the guides here so it should be pretty safe, right? WRONG. After uninstalling old version and installing the newest one, the crashing did disappear. Fuck you, Nox.Ī few months ago I saw that a new Nox version allegedly fixed the crashing issue so that the game is smoother now. Oh, and while using discrete GPU, the whole computer sometimes freeze for a few seconds after quitting and yet that issue completely disappear after switching to onboard GPU. I keep saying somehow because I don't know how the hell the emulator managed to suck more instead of less when using dedicated GPU so I consider it voodoo magic. So not only is the recommendation of using discrete GPU to "speed up Nox" a total bullshit, it's also an outright fucking lie and the opposite is true, somehow. Strangely enough, when I switched back to using onboard GPU much later, the game ran much smoother. Another issue was that the game sometime randomly lagged too much for no reason. There are of course some minor issues like micro-freeze where, when you just load up Nox and fight some boss, it would freeze for less than a second but the in-game timer is still moving, this costed me a few good in-game seconds which is an instant restart. It doesn't happen too often and usually when it happened a quick computer restart fixed it but it happened often enough to irritate me. So yeah that advice on fixing the random failing to start is an absolute bullshit. It stopped loading at 99% then showed a screen where I could probably fix the issue by enabling Virtualization Thread (already enabled), or using discrete GPU (already using it). SAFE ANDROID EMULATOR MAC REDDIT HOW TOHow the hell did that happen, how to really seriously fix it, I never know.Īside from random crashing, the other big problem was Nox randomly failing to start somehow. One time I crashed twice after finishing a daily run each. Things like random crashing that can get very annoying real fast when you're farming your weekly Magicites on Sunday (or, hell, even during daily dungeons). But then of course there had to be new problems. Animation's pretty smooth and the animation lag is gone 100%, never seen that particular problem anymore. SAFE ANDROID EMULATOR MAC REDDIT PLUSIt ran smoothly and minimalistically which is always a plus for multitasking. With the constant problem of animation lag I had enough and switched to Nox which was what people recommended other than Memu. Once the Renewal's over though I almost never resize anymore so that point's moot. Not so much with Nox which can be resized until it's literally unplayable. To its credit though, I liked that Memu has a minimum window size because during the first Renewal I multitasked a lot to lessen the pain, so I woud just drag Memu down and yet it would still be playable. And remember, this is before restart button was added, so it's not like quitting guarantees that the next load won't have animation lag anymore, so I would often S/L a few times while waiting for the problem to fix itself. Whenever the animation lag happens that's an instant S/L. My main problem with Memu was SB animation lag which means sometimes the game freezes then proceeds to ask for my input while Sazh is still dancing with the Choco-chick because reasons. The problem with Memu and why I switched to Nox Nox was my emulator of choice before switching to Bluestacks but before Nox I used Memu which wasn't exactly good either. SAFE ANDROID EMULATOR MAC REDDIT DOWNLOADI usually clear cache post-maintenance so I'll have to download quite a bit of data anyway. On this month's maintenance a few weeks back, I thought why not switch emulator while we're at it. So this probably won't be very popular since it deals with android emulation and I don't know exactly how many players here play on emulator, But I thought I'd share my experience anyway in my quest to find a better emulator than Nox.
